One of the most important features of science is its multidisciplinary character. Society in general (and science in particular) has always splitted knowledge into different disciplines (e.g., physics, mathematics, chemistry or engineering). However, the borderlines between these areas are in fact not well defined, which sometimes makes it necessary to consider science as a whole, as indivisible knowledge. When the scientist is open to this perspective, progress arises from the synergy among different disciplines. And sometimes this synergy is reached in a surprising way. Dr. Vivó Truyols is postdoctoral researcher in chemistry at the University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on the data analysis of new chromatography methods. |
